Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Chelsea's crunch clash with reigning champions Manchester City, Higuain reflected on his recent form and looked ahead to the future under Maurizio Sarri.

'Admittedly the last six months at AC Milan weren't the best but beside that I don't think my record has dropped,' said the Argentine.

'Of course it wasn't the same as my record breaking year in Italy but I did win silverware and improved in other areas.

'Maybe I didn't perform my best over the last six months compared with previous years, but I hope to be back to my best at Chelsea under Sarri. I think with the coach and the team's faith in me I can do just that.

'He's a coach that I know and he really helped me to come here. I already know the way he likes to play. He's the coach I've got on with the best.

'I think Maurizio made a very good start to the season and Chelsea went on a long unbeaten run, there was a dip like every team but we're now back on the way up.
